Script phrase tattoos on upper arm and forearm
Fine line · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
Two photographs show black script lettering tattoos on bare skin. The left image shows the words love is enough in flowing, handwritten-style linework on the upper arm, with strokes that vary in weight. The right image shows a smaller, thinner line of script on the forearm against a softly lit, warm background.

I know what you'll say. You'll say it's a sentiment for a tea towel, that she copied it off a calendar at the chemist's. Maybe she did. But the ink is the blue she saved for things she meant, and the letters are joined the way she joined them when she was writing to Dad before he was anybody's husband. I sat on the kitchen floor under the lamp while the bin lorries went round the square, their orange light sliding up the wall and off again.
So here is my confession. I took the train to Carlisle on Thursday meaning to tell you the house is going, and I didn't. I want you to come home before the van arrives on Saturday. Bring the big pan. Bring your fat biro and a jumper that doesn't smell of Lisbon. I will make the crumble from her page, and if it goes wrong, we will say it was love enough. Nell
