Script quote with stars on the upper back
Lettering · Back · Black and grey · Photo
The photograph shows black cursive script arranged in three lines across the upper back, reading That witch / Does not kill me / Makes me stronger. Several outline and solid stars of varying sizes sit around and between the lines, with small dots adding to the scattered effect. The ink is black with clean, even lines, and the composition follows the curve of the shoulder blade.

The snow had sealed the lane since Tuesday, and by Thursday Mrs Pryce was sure you had poisoned the mutton. "She calls you a witch because you know the price of salt," said Gwen, who had kept the kitchen for thirty years and trusted nothing that did not come from a cellar. "Pay her no mind."
You had not wanted the inn. Your uncle left it to you with a hundred pounds of debt, a leaking roof and a bad reputation for having once stopped a fever with boiled nettles and a sharp word. The village liked the nettles less than it liked the rumour, and the rumour grew fatter every winter the lane closed.
On the third night the chimney stack cracked and the power went with it. You lit every candle in the house, sat the drovers and Mrs Pryce by the fire, and told them the old tale of the miller's wife who walked the moor in February and came home with her hair gone white and her temper sharper than ever. Nobody believed the ending, but everybody stayed.
By morning the plough had come through. Mrs Pryce paid her bill in coins and did not thank you, but at the door she turned back and said, "You're still here, then." You nodded. Behind the bar, scratched into the beam where the ledger hung, a tally of storms ran in neat rows, and you added one more mark beside the last.
