Seated fluffy cat tattoo on a forearm
Realism · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A seated, long-haired cat is shown front on, with its paws together and its head slightly tilted towards the viewer. The outline is dark and fine, while soft grey shading builds up the fur texture across the chest, face and tail. The ink is entirely black and grey, set against pale skin with a blurred patterned fabric behind the arm.

Our lamp had a cat called Mrs Greave, though the men called her the Magistrate. She was grey and fluffy as a dandelion clock, with a face like a magistrate who has heard every excuse going. Every evening she climbed the ninety-odd steps ahead of the keeper, sat herself down by the brass door of the lamp room, and folded her front paws together as if she were waiting for the sermon to end.
The winter of the great blow, the oil ran low, and the keeper, Tobias Rill, went down to the store with his lantern and his bad knee. He was gone the best part of an hour. When he came back up, the lamp was guttering and the glass was black with spray, and Mrs Greave was still sitting exactly where he'd left her, paws together, not a whisker out of place. Tobias swore she had not moved a hair, and she had the look of a cat who'd been counting.
Out past the Scarrow rocks, a fishing smack was feeling its way home blind, and her crew saw the light flare back up just in time to clear the reef. Tobias always said it was the oil. His wife said it was the cat. I only ever say what the boatmen told me, which was that the grey one on the step looked at them as if they were late, and they've been punctual ever since.
