Small crown tattoos on fingers
Fine line · Hand · Black and grey · Photo
Two small crown designs sit on the fingers of a hand resting over another hand, against a white painted brick wall. The crown on the upper finger is solid black and simple, while the crown on the lower finger is an outline with fine, even linework. Both are rendered in black ink with no colour, and the close framing keeps the tattoos as the clear focus.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction
Pell the silversmith had three days to finish the king's signet before the coronation, and he had spent two of them arguing with his own hands. The old king wanted one crown cut solid and heavy, the kind that says the realm will not bend. The queen wanted only its outline, a line drawn so fine a child could follow it with a fingertip and never feel a seam. Between them they had made Pell a prisoner of the workshop, the bench lamp burning past midnight and filings settling in the cracks of his knuckles.

On the third night the queen came down alone, her cloak still wet from the courtyard. She laid her hand flat on the bench beside his, and he saw that her ring finger was bare, as was his. "Make two," she said. "One for the one who must be feared, and one for the one who must be trusted. Put them where the other can always find them."
He made two. The solid crown he set on the king's smallest finger, a dark weight that would never wear thin. The hollow crown he gave the queen, cut so fine the metal seemed to breathe. Years later, when the walls had been whitewashed and the workshop turned into a hall for petitioners, people still asked which crown was the true one. Pell only said that the king's hand had always rested over the queen's, and that a crown needs something beneath it to stand on.
