Stayclassy script lettering design
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
A black script lettering design reading stayclassy, with flowing, connected letterforms and tall loops on the ascenders and descenders. The linework is solid and even, with varying stroke weight that suggests a brush or marker hand. The design is shown in black ink only on a plain white background, with no skin or body part visible.

The trouble started in 1957 when a lad from the gasworks took a swing at a sailor over a girl who had only wanted a second waltz. Chairs went over. The bandleader kept playing, which is the professional thing, and the manager, Mrs Ada Kell, stood on the stage with her hands on her hips and said that from Saturday there'd be words above that door whether the men liked it or not. Dennis said he'd write whatever she liked. She said stay classy. He looked at her a long while and said that was two words that wanted tying together.
So he did. He worked through the night with the lamps dimmed, the loops of the y hanging down over the threshold like a dancer's arm held out for a partner who hasn't come yet. Next morning the men came in, read it, and went quiet, because a thing written that gracefully is hard to shout beneath.
