Fine line black sun and crescent moon tattoos with script wording running down the outer side of two bare feet.

Sun and moon script tattoos on feet

Fine line · Other · Black and grey · Photo

Two bare feet are shown side by side on a pale surface. The left foot has a small outlined sun with rays and the words "you see all my light" written in cursive script beside it, while the right foot has an outlined crescent moon with "and you love my dark" in matching script. The linework is thin and uniform in black ink, with no shading or colour, and the image is framed evenly with both designs mirrored in placement.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

The dome on Halvard Station was built to face the sun, so every crew member learned early which way was up when the light went out. You drew the night shift on the far side of the hull, where the star was a rumour behind the ice shelf and the only glow came from the rig lamps. Ilse had the day watch. Every eleven hours the relay chimed and her message scrolled across your wrist display, always the same short line: keep the lamps trimmed, it's still coming round.

The winter the coolant pumps failed, the shift rota went to pieces. Forty people slept in the corridors to keep warm, and you spent three nights walking the perimeter with a torch that kept dying. You stopped answering the relay. You told yourself it was the cold, and then it was the silence, and by the fourth night you had stopped believing the sun would ever clear the rim again.

On the fifth morning the chime came early. Ilse's message was longer than usual and badly spelled, typed with cold fingers in the control gallery: the pumps are running, the sun is over the rim, you can stop walking now. You read it twice. Then you sat down on the frozen step, unclipped the lamp from your belt, and let it go dark, because for the first time in months the light was coming from the right direction without you.
