Tabby kitten and paw prints on forearm

Realism · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo

A walking tabby kitten faces left across the inner forearm, with a raised tail and shaded stripes along its body and legs. A trail of small paw prints continues to the right of the cat. The tattoo uses soft grey shading and fine detail in the fur and eyes, set against blurred skin and background.

You asked me to write properly, so here is the proper news. Last Tuesday the bosun found her asleep on the coil of the spare hawser, and when he lifted her off she left a clean set of paw marks in the tar on the deck, right across to the rail. We all stood there in the rain staring at them. Mr Okafor said a cat that leaves its mark on a ship is a cat that means to stay, and nobody argued with him, because nobody wanted the job of rubbing them out.

I have been told I must not get ink on my fingers before my watch, so I shall keep this short. The lamp is going out and Biscuit is sitting on my boots, purring like a small engine. I think she is telling me it is time for bed, and I think, for once, she may be right.

Your loving son, Tom
