Tribal dragon design
Black and grey · Flash
The drawing shows a dragon in a bold tribal style, with its head turned to the right and its wings and tail formed from sharp, spiky black strokes. Soft pencil shading in the grey areas adds depth behind the wing and body shapes. The design is set on a plain off-white background and fills most of the frame.

It arrived as the carts were lining up, its wings like black iron umbrellas with the rain running off their points. Grey smoke drifted in the hollows between its spines. It did not roar. It turned its head to the right, towards the western valley where the lamps were lit, and asked in a voice like sleet on slate what a traveller must pay to cross.
Mara answered that the toll was one true word spoken at the gate. The dragon considered this for a long while, then offered a spine from the tip of its tail, long as a rake and dark as a bruise. Mara shook her head. 'Keep your spines. Tell me instead why you want to go west.'
The dragon admitted it had never seen the sea, only the rain that fell from it. Mara lifted the chain. By morning the gate stood open, and in the frost on the road were prints that thinned into long, spiked lines, leading away towards water nobody on the eastern bank had ever seen.
