Typewriter quote on a forearm
Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A close photograph of a four-line quote tattooed on the inner forearm, set in a typewriter-style font. The lettering is solid black ink with slightly uneven edges, and the text is centred on the skin with plenty of clear space around it. The image is black and white, with a dark background and soft light on the skin.

Dear Frankie,

The ovens went on at half four and I've been perched by the back door of Pell's since, typing this on the office typewriter with the ribbon nearly gone, so forgive the smudges. Mr Pell thinks I'm doing the wages. The dough is proving under damp cloths in the cold room, and the whole street smells of last night's rain and this morning's bread.
You'll say I've gone soft in the head, but there's a bag packed under the proving table and a ticket for the twenty to six to Hull in my coat pocket. Ma will find the note I left by the kettle. She'll be cross, then she'll be proud, in that order, which is how Ma does most things.
I've left you the last of the seeded tin on the back step, wrapped in the good greaseproof, so don't let the gulls have it. Take the spare ribbon from the drawer too. I'm not having it wasted on Pell's invoices. Tell him it was me.
Write when you find a town with a bakery that needs a girl who knows her way round a peel. I'll be at the front of the queue, asking where the next thrill is.
Love, Dot
