Jenni has been wearing the sash since Tuesday, and she has lost it twice, once at Teddington lock and once in the reeds at Kingston, where a heron looked at her as if she owed him money.

Someone had chalked a message on the board by the bar, and Jenni thought it was the funniest thing she had ever read.
