Traditional style tattoo of a cartoon white cat with a pink bow and the words Bitch Please I'm Fabulous on a forearm.

Cartoon cat and lettering on a forearm

Traditional · Forearm · Mixed · Photo

A close-up of a forearm tattoo showing a cartoon white cat with a pink bow, resting its cheek on one paw in front of a pink heart shape. Below the cat, the words Bitch Please I'm Fabulous appear in block lettering, with black, grey and pink ink and a dotted shadow effect. Bold black outlines and flat colour fills dominate, and partial tattoos are visible at the top edge and bottom right, with blurred plants behind the arm.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

The matinee had been a disaster, and everyone at the Rosewell Theatre knew it except Mrs Pemberton, who kept her own opinions. She sat on the stage-left stool with her cheek propped on one white paw, watching the stagehands drag the velvet curtain across the wreckage of the second act. The pink ribbon in her hair had slipped twice. She retied it herself without looking, the way other people check a pocket for their keys.

Mr Okonedo, the director, came down the aisle wringing a programme into a rope. "The critic from the Lantern is in the foyer," he said. "He wants a word."

"Tell him I'm resting," said Mrs Pemberton. "Tell him I'm fabulous and I'm resting, and he may write that down."

He could not tell whether that was a joke. She had been the theatre's stage cat for eleven seasons and had never once been asked to explain herself, so she had never bothered to start. She rose, shook out her grey-tipped ears, and walked to the footlights, where the little pink heart cushion lay that the wardrobe mistress had stitched for her opening night.

Then the critic came in, and she lay down on the heart, paw under chin, and gave him the slow, serene look of someone who had already read the review and found it marvellous.
