Cartoon cat driving a hot rod on an upper arm
Neo-trad · Upper arm · Black and grey · Photo
A cartoon cat with an open mouth and wide eyes sits above a vintage hot rod with white wall tyres. Musical notes, a treble clef, stars and a small skull and crossbones fill the background. The work uses bold black outlines and grey shading, with no colour ink.

She hopped onto the running board and studied him with the look of someone who had read the manual. "Don't start," he told her. "I know it wants a new float bowl."
Her name was Dusty, though nobody remembered who had named her. She had turned up in October like a debt collector and had sat on the dashboard ever since whenever the door was open. Dusty leapt onto the windscreen frame, ears flat, eyes huge, mouth open in a yowl that sounded suspiciously like a chorus line. Ronnie laughed until he had to sit on the bumper. He drove her out into the white field with the skull-and-crossbones tag he had pinned to the sun visor rattling, and she rode the bonnet all the way to the lane as though she had been waiting thirty years for someone to get the thing running.
