Cartoon leg sleeve across four views
Thigh · Colour · Photo
The four panels show the same leg from different angles, covered in a full cartoon-themed sleeve. Characters include a spiky-haired boy in a caped costume, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man, a Venom-like villain and several other animated figures, set among clouds and bright backdrops. The bold outlines and saturated colours of blue, purple, green, red and yellow give it a vivid, illustrative finish.

Dougie had been on the ladder since six, and the wall was still winning. Mrs Okonedo wanted her grandson's whole childhood across the stairwell of the flats, every cartoon he had ever tried to sit still for, and so far Dougie had managed only a yellow, spiky-haired lad in a cape before the boy's mother came out with a tea towel and a list.

He climbed down when she asked for the green lot. 'Four of them, in masks,' she said. 'He's been asking since Easter.' Dougie dipped his brush in a tin of lime and wrote the turtles across the top step in a rush of purple sky, because the sky was the only part he had not argued with. They came out rough and grinning, one with a sai, one with its shell painted slightly crooked, and Dougie decided that was honest work.
By dusk the villain in black was dribbling down the banister, a spider-suited hero was swinging above the letterbox, and the boy himself had been put in the bottom corner with his cape billowing, looking up with the face of someone who had been promised everything. Mrs Okonedo read the list twice and frowned at the bare patch near the skirting.
'You missed the little one with the big nose,' she said. Dougie studied the wall for a long while, sighed, and mixed a bit more blue. 'Grandad's favourite,' she added, and he painted it in, grinning, in the last of the light.
