Cartoon woman blowing bubblegum on a forearm
Traditional · Forearm · Colour · Photo
A cartoon woman with curly pink hair and a pearl necklace blows a large pink bubblegum bubble, with a milkshake and straw at her side. Bold black outlines are filled with pink and red shading, and a banner beneath the figure carries partly visible lettering. The tattoo covers the forearm, photographed on a wooden floor with the wearer's bare feet visible behind.

The strawberry shake had gone over the counter before Dot could catch it, and the boy in the blue jumper was already grabbing napkins with both hands, as if napkins might help. Dot didn't shout. She had worked the Silver Spoon long enough to know that shouting only made the milk run faster. She pulled a fresh wad of Bazooka from her apron pocket, folded it in, and worked it until the pink went soft.

The boy's mother had a sharp look and a handbag clamped against her hip. 'That's a good dollar gone,' she said. Dot blew a bubble the size of a saucer, let it wobble over the three of them, then popped it with one neat tap of her finger. 'Shake's on the house, love,' she said. 'Milk never did anybody any good on a dirty floor.'
Behind the counter, Harold Finch was counting the till and pretending not to listen. He had been at the Spoon since before the war and held firm opinions about chewing gum in a respectable establishment. When the bubble burst he dropped a sixpence into the tip jar with a clink that sounded almost like applause.
By closing, the floor was mopped, the boy had a cherry on top of a new glass, and Dot was wiping the last of the cream from the chrome edge of the stool. Harold asked, half joking, whether she meant to cry over it. Dot snapped her gum, grinned, and blew one final bubble that caught the light from the window before it drifted out over the door. 'Cream's cheap,' she said. 'Mopping's free.'
