Daisy tattoo on the inner wrist
Fine line · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
A daisy-like flower with black linework and light shading sits on the inner wrist, with the petals radiating outwards from a small yellow centre. The fine outlines and soft grey shading are clean and even, and the flower is placed centrally on the wrist against a plain pale background. The photograph is black and white, so the yellow centre is the only colour in the image.

Sit closer, and mind the goat, she has no respect for a good tale. The women of Kallion climbed the cliff path every morning in the month the boats went out, and Nerissa went with them, her husband's cloak over one arm because the wind off the water had teeth. Her husband was Dion, who mended nets better than any man on the coast, and he had sailed into the grey months since the first frost.

Each morning she stopped where the white flowers grew thick in the thin soil, bent low, and plucked one. She pulled a petal and said he is coming home, pulled another and said he is not, and the petals fell like small white coins into the grass. She counted until the sun cleared the headland. Then she gathered the stalks and the bare yellow hearts and carried them down to the harbour wall to dry, because her mother had told her a flower keeps its shape longer than a promise.
The other women stopped coming up once their household work piled high, and the path went quiet except for her counting and the goat, which ate whatever it could reach. One morning the petals ran out before the words did, and she was left with a single yellow heart in her palm, small as a drop of sun. She sat on the wall and wept with her whole back. When she stood, she pressed that heart into a crack between two stones and walked home without looking back.
Now here is the part the old men will not tell you. The following spring the crack was full of bright flowers, each with its gold centre, and the wall shone along the harbour like a string of lamps. The boats came in on the first fair wind, and Dion, climbing the path with his net on his shoulder, saw that light from a mile out and knew which road was hers. Mind the goat. Now, who wants the last of the figs?
