Deathly Hallows and Winnie the Pooh tattoos collage
Forearm · Mixed · Photo
This collage shows several skin photos alongside product and transfer images. The main subjects are a black linework butterfly on a forearm, a small Winnie the Pooh figure in red and black on a wrist, and a bold black Deathly Hallows symbol shown on a wrist and forearm, some on transfer paper. Shading is minimal and the colour is limited to the red shirt on the Pooh design, with a plain background and prep items such as a cotton pad and bottle.

You find the transfers at the bottom of the bag, under the spare hairgrips and a roll of medical tape: three sheets of backing card, a cotton pad still in its plastic sleeve, and the bottle of cleanser you were told not to forget. The car is due at eleven. The hotel bathroom smells of somebody else's lavender soap, and on the cistern lid Dolly sits with his stuffed paws folded, the same bear who has been to every family wedding since you were six.

Your sister wanted the bridesmaids matching, which meant a small bear in a red jumper for Ruby, the flower girl who refuses to wear shoes, and a plain black triangle for the best man, who has read the same seven books four times and will want to discuss them through the speeches. The butterfly was your idea. It is for the usher with the grey beard, who said he didn't mind as long as nobody asked him to dance.
Peeling the film is the trick. Wet the cotton, press, count to thirty, then lift from one corner the way you'd lift a stamp off an envelope. The triangle comes away crisp except for one stubborn ring where the circle clings to the backing, and you spend a minute coaxing it loose with your thumbnail while the bear watches from the cistern.
By half eleven the room is full of people shouting for lipstick. Ruby holds her wrist up to the window and announces that Pooh is going to his own wedding. Nobody corrects her. Later, in the photographs, you'll notice the triangle has come out a shade lighter than the rest, and you'll decide it suits a day that was never going to hold still.
