Disney villains sleeve on upper arm

Upper arm · Colour · Photo

The tattoo covers the upper arm and shoulder with three large cartoon villains stacked from top to bottom: a pirate with a skull-and-crossbones hat at the top, a purple-skinned sea witch with tentacles in the middle, and an old woman in a hooded cloak holding a red apple at the bottom. Smaller figures, including a dark bird and purple tentacles, fill the gaps around them. Outlines are clean and the shading is soft, with rich purple, red and green tones against black. The photograph is taken indoors from a slight side angle, with the wearer's face cropped out of frame.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

Gather in, gather in, and mind the puddles, for the rain has been at this market since Tuesday and shows no sign of tiring. You want a tale? Then I'll tell you about three customers who came to Mab Thornbury's stall on the same grey morning, and what each of them bought with the only coin they had left.

First came the one-handed captain from Harbour Row, his black hat pulled low over its grinning skull, the brass hook at his wrist tapping every crate he passed. He was after a cure for the ticking that followed him everywhere, and Mab had none, so she sold him a pocket watch instead and told him to wind it each night before the tide turned. He paid in silver, swore on his mother's bones he'd never return, and limped off towards the quay.

Next slid in the sea woman, eight grey arms folding her umbrella shut, her purple shawl dripping onto the cobbles. She asked for a voice that could carry over storms. Mab asked what she would offer in return, and the sea woman laughed until the jars rattled, then pledged a fortnight of her own silence. Mab took it. Nobody has heard her sing since, and the harbour lads say the gulls have gone quiet too.

Last came the hooded old woman with a red apple gleaming in her gloved hand. She wanted to know which of Mab's mirrors told the truest story. Mab offered her the cracked one by the door, and the old woman smiled, polished her apple on her sleeve, and walked into the rain asking everyone she passed whether they were the fairest of all.
