Gold and silver foil temporary tattoos on forearms

Forearm · Colour · Photo

Two forearms display metallic foil temporary tattoos, including a black moustache, gold lips, a diamond, small hearts, XOXO lettering, a silhouetted couple, a dove, a bow and the words love is all you need. The designs are flat, solid shapes with fine foil texture and no shading, in gold and silver with one black element. The arrangement is set against a pale background with a small white ring dish and a kraft paper heart in the top left.

A story inspired by this tattoo · fiction

Maud had been feeding transfer sheets through her mother's old hot-press since seven, and by eleven the kitchen smelled of warm foil and scorched toast. The order was for forty sets: moustaches, gold lips, little diamonds, XOXO in curling capitals, and a dove that always came out looking like a deflated kite. Her brother Dennis had insisted on the moustache. He said it was the only thing the guests would remember.

The bride's extra order arrived in the last post, pinned to a kraft card with a heart punched through one corner. Two sets, no changes, and a note in careful blue ink: please do the ring design on the little white dish, the one I left by your sink. Maud found the dish on the windowsill, a square ceramic thing with two handles, and a tarnished band lying in it like a dropped coin. She turned the ring over and read the inside. There was a date, and two initials that belonged to neither the bride nor the groom.

She sat for a while with the iron cooling in its stand and the radio murmuring about road closures. Then she cut a fresh sheet of gold, pressed a tiny ring onto the kraft heart, and wrote on the back in her neatest hand: the dish is still here, and so is something you should come and explain before Saturday.

Dennis found her at midnight, still at the table, peeling a moustache from its backing and laying it on her wrist like a joke nobody had finished telling.
