Good vibes script on the side ribs
Fine line · Ribs · Black and grey · Photo
A close photograph of a small black script tattoo reading good vibes, placed on bare skin on the side of the torso just below a grey crop top. The linework is thin and even, with solid black ink and no shading. The composition is tightly cropped, with the lettering centred in the lower half of the frame.

Dennis had the window half-lettered when the Ramsgate coach pulled in outside the Sunbeam Café, and the driver leant out to ask whether the lido was still open. It was not. Dennis told him so, then went back to his liner brush, the one with the bristles fine as a cat's whisker, and kept going.

Nell Pardoe had asked for something to cheer the windows up. She wanted a tin sign, bold capitals, the sort her mother had hung over the till. Dennis had other ideas. He sketched two words in a loose, leaning hand, the kind a person writes on the back of a postcard when they are in no hurry to get home, and Nell stood with her arms folded and said it looked like a lost cause written by a poet.
"It's meant to," he said. "Nobody reads a shouting sign twice."
She came round in the end, the way people do when the tea is already brewing. By the evening the thin black letters sat across the glass in the last of the light, and the sea wind that had been stripping the front all week came off the water, slapped the awning, and went on its way. The paint held. In the morning the first thing anyone saw walking up the promenade was the words, doubled faintly in the wet pavement beneath them, as if the street had written them too.
