Infinite in fine line script
Fine line · Black and grey · Flash
The design shows the word infinite written in a single continuous, handwritten script. The letters are drawn in thin, even black linework with a looping stroke that extends under the word. The plain white background leaves the lettering as the only element in the composition.

By the third week of September the Pearmain rows at Hollins Farm have stopped pretending to be finite. You climb the ladder with the canvas bag hooked at your hip and count to forty, the way Mrs Ardle taught you, and somewhere past the thirtieth apple you lose the number and start again. Nobody minds. The wasps are drunk on windfalls and the air smells of cider vinegar and cut grass.

Mrs Ardle keeps the picking book on a nail by the barn door, a green ledger with her tall, looping hand running down the columns. Every crate gets a tally and every tally gets a name. Yours sits at the bottom of page nine, under her brother's, and beside it there's a line she drew through with a ruler and then wrote over in pencil: carry on. You asked her once what it meant. She said it was the only sum she'd never managed to close.
On the last Saturday the rain holds off long enough for the old Bramley at the far corner to be stripped. You stand under it with the sun coming through the leaves in coins, and at the height of your shoulder you find a single word cut into the bark years ago, then left for the tree to grow around. The letters have swollen and split. The long stroke beneath them runs down into the root flare like a thread someone forgot to cut. You trace it with your thumb while the bag swings against your leg, full and heavier than it should be, and you think about the ledger, the nail and the pencil, and how the tree has been keeping that word far longer than any of you have.
You don't write anything down. You pick the rest of the row, carry the ladder back to the barn and leave the pencil where Mrs Ardle will find it, lying right beside the line she never closed.
