Just Breathe script lettering design
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
The image shows the words Just Breathe written in continuous, flowing handwritten script in black ink on a plain white background. The linework is thin and even, with a long swash stroke extending from the final letters of Just and loops running through the capital B of Breathe. The composition is simple and centred, with no shading or colour.

The swell lifts the Margaret Ellen at four in the morning, and you are the only one on deck not yet sick. Skipper Dunne bellows from the wheelhouse that the trawl has fouled on the port warp, and you are moving before your head catches up, hands finding the wet rope the way they learned in your first season. Somewhere below, the engine coughs, dies, then catches again.

In the pocket of your oilskin is the letter from Ailsa, folded four times and soft as cloth. She wrote it in the looping hand she has used since she was nine, the capitals swinging like kite tails, and she signed it with a crude drawing of a gull. At the bottom, underlined twice, she wrote the thing you have read so often the ink has gone faint: just breathe. You laughed when it arrived. Now you are on your knees on slick planks with the sea trying to drag you over the rail.
You stop hauling. You fill your chest the way the doctor in Kilbrannan taught your mother to do during the bad winter, slow and deep, and you let the air out through your teeth. The swell drops. Dunne's voice comes again, gentler now, and the two lads take the warp between them while you stand and wait. The net rises from the grey water heavy with hake, silver flicking in the lamplight, and nobody goes over the side.
Later, when the boxes are iced and the gulls have given up, you take the letter out again. The spray has blurred one loop of the B into a smudge, but the words still hold. You fold it back into the oilskin and feel the paper warm against your ribs. Ailsa will ask whether you got her message. You will tell her you did, and you will mean it.
