Matching puzzle heart wrist tattoos
Forearm · Colour · Photo
Two wrists are shown side by side, each carrying one half of a heart shaped like a puzzle piece. The heart halves are filled with solid red ink and outlined in black, with a clean, bold line and no shading. The skin tones are warm and the background is a dark and red checked floor, with the two tattoos placed close together in the centre of the frame.

The jigsaw had lived in the Marine View's parlour cupboard since 1987, Mrs Pardoe said, and nobody had ever got past the sky. Hetty found it on her second wet afternoon, the box corners taped with brown parcel tape, and tipped the pieces onto the card table by the bay window while rain ran down the glass in grey sheets.

Owen, the other guest, had come down from Leeds to clear out his late uncle's bungalow and had nothing better to do with his hands. He sorted the edges without being asked. By four o'clock the sea had gone from pewter to ink, and they had a crooked lighthouse, a row of bunting and a gap the shape of a heart, cut into two pieces, one slightly redder at the edges than the other.
'That's not from this one,' Owen said, turning a piece over. 'Someone's mixed a box.' Hetty found the other half wedged under the radiator, furred with dust and warm from the pipes, and when she held it against his the two pieces clicked the way only correct things do. Neither of them had any reason to be pleased about a jigsaw, yet they both laughed too loudly, and Mrs Pardoe put her head round the door to ask who had let the cat in.
On the underside of the lid, in faded biro, someone had written: 'Sky's the hard bit. Ask for the other half.' Owen took the lid home with him to Leeds. Hetty kept the heart. In the morning she left the picture half-finished on the card table, a single blue cloud still missing, for whoever came in out of the rain next.
