Matching sisters infinity tattoos
Fine line · Neck · Black and grey · Photo
Two matching tattoos show the word Sisters written in cursive script inside an infinity symbol, one on the back of a person's neck and one on the inner wrist of another person. The linework is thin and even, in solid black ink with no shading. The close crop places both tattoos side by side on pale skin against a plain background.

Bea counted the float twice before she trusted it, the coins sliding through her fingers like wet gravel while the generator coughed behind the waltzer. Nell was up on the big wheel, checking the last car before the cold came in off the fields, because she had promised their mum she would look at the bolts. Somewhere below, a man was shouting about candyfloss, and the lights blinked off one bulb at a time.

They had been on the road since March, a rattling convoy of caravans that never stayed a fortnight in one town. Bea kept the ledger in pencil, because ink, their father used to say, was for people who planned to stay. The last stop had been a cricket ground outside Ely, and before that a car park in Dudley where the rain came sideways. Nell wanted to leave the fair at the end of the summer. Bea wanted it too, though she had never said so, and every time she opened the ledger her hand wrote numbers that made leaving harder.
Nell came down the steps at midnight with grease on her cheek and a coil of rope over one shoulder, the old strongman's rope their father had kept in the van long after the act was gone. She dropped it on the table between the coin tins. "Wheel's sound," she said. "Eleven bolts, all tight."
Bea looked at the rope, then at her sister, then at the ledger, which still would not balance by four pounds and twelve pence. She tore out the page, folded it into a boat, and set it on the wet grass by the tent flap. "Tomorrow we tie up in Kendal," she said. "Then we sell the wheel to whoever wants it."
