Matching wrist quote tattoos with a lip print
Lettering · Other · Mixed · Photo
Two people's wrists are pressed together, each showing the same three-line phrase in dark, neatly typed lettering with a small red lip print beside the word lost. The lettering is crisp and evenly spaced, and the dark ink sits on the inner wrists with a red accent. The composition is close and centred on the wrists, with a braided bracelet and red nail polish visible at the lower edge.

The man on Harbour Street with the bent sign in his window said it would take forty minutes. It took eleven, because Bex talked the whole time and the needle never stopped.

The lip print was Fran's idea. She dabbed a tissue in the bride's own red lipstick, pressed it hard to the paper stencil, and told the artist this was the only honest thing anyone had done all weekend. He didn't laugh. He just traced the smudge with a steady hand, the way you'd copy a map.
They caught the early train home with their wrists pressed together across the armrest, the wording still shiny under a film of cling wrap. Somewhere past Minster, a sunburnt man in a fishing hat leaned over from the next seat and asked if they were the girls who'd been lost at the Anchor. Lauren said yes. He said he'd bought them a round and never got his fiver back. Fran checked her purse, found exactly a fiver, and handed it over with a red-nailed flourish, and nobody on that carriage ever worked out whether he'd been lying.
