Mickey silhouette castle on thigh
Neo-trad · Thigh · Colour · Photo
A Mickey Mouse head outline forms the frame of this tattoo, with a black castle silhouette set against an orange, pink and purple gradient sky. The ears and lower section are filled with red, teal and gold mandala-style ornaments. Bold black outlines and rich saturated colour give it a strong, ornamental look across the upper thigh.

Dear Liesl, the snow came over the Vell Gap on Tuesday, and the carter from Harrow brought your last letter up with it, damp at one corner. I read it twice by the stove while Mother argued with the goats. You asked whether the sign over the inn is still standing. It is, though the wind has taken two of the red rosettes off the lintel, and Oskar has been up the ladder with a pot of teal paint and a face like thunder.

You will remember the hill above the road, the three round shoulders of it that look from the valley like a mouse's head. Oskar has finally finished what he began in the summer. On the middle hill, where the ridge drops away, he has drawn the castle from the old engraving in the tollhouse, black as a burnt match against a sky that goes orange at the bottom and violet at the top. He painted the stars himself, one dab at a time, with the end of a hair brush. The carters swear the spires are only the jagged line of Kessel's chimneys seen through the haze, but Oskar says the chimneys never looked that proud.
The travellers stop now to photograph it, or to stare, and most of them leave a coin in the box without being asked. Last night a man in a green coat asked me what the castle was for. I told him it was for keeping the snow off the road, which is nearly true.
Come up before the thaw if you can. Bring the brass compass Father left you. I will keep a lamp in the window and count the stars until you arrive.
