Script lettering reading Love me for who I am
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
A black script lettering design reads Love me for who I am, with a large flowing capital L and an elegant J. The linework is smooth and uniform, with thick and thin strokes and no shading. The phrase sits centred on a plain white background, with generous space around it.

The ferry was cancelled again, so I've been sitting in the Harbour Inn with a pot of tea gone cold and Mum's old fountain pen, which leaks on my thumb every time I press too hard. You'll laugh at that. You always said I wrote like I was being chased.
Mrs Penrose has given us the back room now, the one over the bakery where the flour dust comes up through the floorboards. She asked me last night whether you were the sort who would come home for Christmas. I told her you were the sort who would come home when you were ready, and she looked at me the way Dad used to look at a sum that didn't add up.
I found the tin of letters you left under the stairs. Your handwriting was the prettiest thing in the house, all those loops and tails, and I spent an hour copying the capitals onto the back of a gas bill. The L I managed. The J went wrong three times. I kept thinking about your last card, the one that said Love me for who I am, that's all I ask. I didn't answer it properly then. I'm answering it now.
Come home, or don't, but send word. Whatever you've turned into out there, I'd rather hear it from you than from a stranger at the bus stop. Yours, always, Ann.
