Small lettering tattoo on the ribs
Lettering · Ribs · Black and grey · Photo
A small black tattoo of the phrase sick as frick sits on the side of the ribcage, with a short stroke-like mark below the words. The lettering is crisp, uniform and set in a typewriter-style serif, with the image showing only the ink and plain skin. The person wears an open navy and red plaid shirt and dark jeans, and the photo is taken at an angle against a pale wall.

Dear Mr Pargeter,

I am writing from room four of Seaview House, Margate, on a typewriter the proprietress insists is a Remington but which has plainly been dropped down several flights of stairs. The t key sticks, so you will see crooked t's throughout, and I beg you to forgive them, as I have been forgiving this house since Tuesday.
Mrs Oakshott says the sea air will cure my chest. The sea air has done nothing but make the gulls bold and the damp climb the wallpaper in the shape of Ireland. Last night the bath ran cold at seven, and when I knocked on the boiler cupboard the landlady told me, with real pride, that it was sick as frick and she had no intention of seeing to it before Whitsun.
I have taken to sitting on the harbour wall each morning, counting the boats that come back in. Eleven on Friday, and not one brought the fair wind you promised in your advertisement, nor a dry towel. I am told the proper course is a complaint to the council, so I have started one, and I have enclosed a shilling for the repairs to this machine, which I mended myself with a hatpin and a good deal of language.
Yours in damp and fury, Ada Lyle
P.S. The gull on the lamp post outside my window has taken to watching me. I suspect it reports to the landlady.
