Small pixel art creature and figure on a shoulder
Shoulder · Mixed · Photo
The photograph shows a small tattoo of two pixel art sprites side by side on the upper back near the shoulder. The left sprite is an orange creature and the right is a tiny figure with a red cap and dark clothing. The blocky, stepped linework and flat fills are sharp, and the ink reads clearly against soft, neutral skin tones and a plain light background.

Dear Danny,

The lift has been broken since Tuesday, so I am writing this on the landing step of flat fourteen with my bad knee up on a bag of potatoes. Your mum says you have been asking for the little blue box with the cracked corner. I found it under the radiator behind the ironing board, along with three crisp packets, a pound coin and one of your school socks, which I have kept back as evidence.
I switched it on last night because the house was too quiet without you thumping about. The screen is all squares, like a tea towel. There is a lad in a red cap no bigger than my thumbnail, and beside him a little orange creature with a flame on the end of its tail. Nobody told me what they were called, so I called them Mister Red and Ember, and Ember seems to answer to it. When I pressed the buttons Mister Red walked left and Ember trotted after him, one blocky step at a time, the way the milkman used to come up the path before his hip went.
I got them through the mushroom wood in the end. It took me until nearly two in the morning and I used up both of my reading glasses. Every time Mister Red stopped, Ember stopped too, and sat down right next to him, waiting. I could not work out how to make him leave the wood without him, so I didn't. I left them both at the edge of the trees with the screen dimmed.
I have put the box on your pillow with the charger coiled round it. Come up on Saturday when the lift is mended and fetch them. Ember has been very patient, and you know how I feel about making a creature wait.
Love, Gran
