Three-eyed black cat face on an arm
Neo-trad · Upper arm · Mixed · Photo
A black cat face with three glowing orange eyes fills the frame, with the central eye set on the forehead above the nose. The bold black outlines and heavy black fur strokes sit over soft grey shading, with small dark dots on the muzzle and long whiskers extending outward. The design is centred on the limb against a pale blue background, with a partly visible drawing in the top right corner.

Hush now, and mind the third step, for it has been eating boots since before your great-grandmother's mother was a notion. Sit where the wall still holds the day's heat and I will tell you about the cat who kept Harrowgate Keep, the one with three eyes and no patience for fools.

Her name was Morwen. She came up from the tithe barn the winter the old lord's wife died, black as a coal sack, with that middle eye set on her brow like a lamp someone forgot to snuff. Two eyes for the living, folk said, and one for whatever the living had mislaid. Lord Aldous Vane did not care for her. He cared less for the rats, which he could never catch, so he tolerated her and fed her the heads of herring.
Then the silver went. Every spoon and candlestick in the great hall vanished in a single week, and the steward swore it was a Cornish pedlar who had never set foot inside the walls. Morwen sat on the chapel flagstones each night and blinked her middle eye at one loose stone by the altar rail. Nobody listened. On the seventh night the steward's own boy lifted that stone with a crowbar and found the plate stacked beneath it, wrapped in his master's good linen.
They say the lord had the boy whipped in the yard, and in the morning the cat was gone through the broken postern gate. Some swear she still sits on that stone. Some say the middle eye opens at dusk, and if you catch it open, you will hear the lord's heavy boots on the stair, going down, and never coming up.
