Tigger cartoon tattoo on a forearm
Forearm · Colour · Photo
A bouncing cartoon tiger with orange fur, black stripes and a pink nose and tail tip is tattooed along a light-skinned limb against a dark, blurred background. The outlines are bold and the fills are flat with some soft shading on the belly and legs. Orange and black dominate the design, with a small pink arrow at the upper right.

Dear Nell,

The boat's called the Marguerite and she's out of Peterhead with a crew of six, and you'll not believe what Skipper Dunnet has lashed to the wheelhouse rail. It's a tiger. Orange as a traffic cone, black stripes down him like someone's gone at him with a dirty brush, and a pink nose on him the size of a plum. He bounces. Honest to God, Nell, he bounces. Every time she comes off a swell he springs up on that springy tail and comes down again, grinning like he knows something we don't.
Dunnet says it was his late wife's idea, a mascot for luck, and nobody on the crew has the nerve to ask him to take it down. Davie reckons it's the only thing aboard that's never been seasick. Ruddy Frank swears it talks to him in the middle watch. I told him that's three nights without sleep talking.
Last Tuesday we hauled a net so heavy the winch groaned, and the tiger was going up and down like a bairn on a trampoline while we swore at the gear. Something about the sight of him set us all off laughing, even Dunnet, and that's been hard to come by since the price of diesel went up.
I'll post you a bit of the haddock when we're in. Tell Mam I'm eating properly. When I look up from the hatch the tiger's still there, pink nose catching the spray. Your loving brother, Tam.
