Two cartoon bears on a forearm
Forearm · Mixed · Photo
The tattoo shows a larger brown bear with raised arms and an open mouth, with a smaller tan bear in front of it. The bears are drawn with clean outlines and soft grey shading. The muted brown and tan ink sits on the forearm, with the arm angled across a light fabric background.

Dear Maud,

You will not believe what Mr Pinder has put me in this time. Last Saturday at the Palais, he had the big brown costume stitched up again, the one with the moth holes at the elbows, and he stood me on the bandstand with a cardboard sign saying Bruin's Hop Night. The paw stuffing smells of the cellar, Maud. I thought I would faint before the first waltz.
Then young Ada Lusk came in with her cousin, both of them in those sateen dresses, and she started doing the Lambeth Walk right under the chandelier. I have never wanted to roar so badly in my life. So I did. Arms up, mouth wide open, and the whole hall turned round and clapped. Then the little lad from the cloakroom came running in wearing the cub suit we keep for the children's matinee, and before I could stop him he was dancing in front of me as if he owned the floor.
We were a sorry sight, but the crowd loved us. Mr Pinder docked me a shilling for the mess and then bought us both a lemonade, which I count as a victory. The cub has asked whether he can be my cub every Saturday, and I said we would have to see what the bandleader thinks.
Write soon and tell me Father has stopped sulking about the wedding. I'll keep the lemonade bottle for you with a cork in it.
Yours roaringly, Ted
