Angular star tattoo on the back of the neck
Geometric · Neck · Black and grey · Photo
A bold black star-like symbol made of sharp, angular points sits centred on the back of the neck. The linework is solid and heavy, with some dark fill in the interior sections, giving the design a tribal-leaning, geometric look. Dark hair and a black collar frame the piece against neutral skin tones.

Brother Osric had been told the star over the scriptorium door was a compass rose, and for thirty years he had believed it. Then the winter the Ouse froze to the sill, he climbed the ladder with a hammer and found the bronze was not a rose at all but a ring of eight blades, each point filed sharp enough to catch a candle flame.

He carried it down wrapped in a sack and laid it on the refectory table beside the bread. Prior Anselm turned it over with two fingers, the way a man handles a dead wasp. "Our founder hung this to keep the wolves off," he said. "Look how it cuts the light."
Osric did look. The shadow it threw across the flagstones had eight hard corners, and none of them lined up with the window. He spent the next week with a rule and a tallow lamp, measuring, while the bells rang the hours around him. On the seventh night he understood that the points were not pointing outward at all. They were drawn inward, toward a single empty centre, the way a man folds his arms round himself against the cold.
He did not tell the prior. In March he took the star down to the river and set it in the reeds where the water ran dark and fast, and he watched it sink without a ripple. Then he walked back up the lane, and for the first time in years he did not look over his shoulder at the tower.
