Blue TARDIS on a lower leg
Calf · Colour · Photo
A blue outline drawing of a TARDIS police box sits on the lower leg above the ankle, with a window grid, a panelled door and a lantern on the roof. The right side of the box is filled with solid blue ink, giving a flat, graphic look against the skin. The photograph is taken outdoors in strong sunlight, with the foot and a paved surface visible behind the leg.

The ferryman's daughter, Morwen Tallow, had never been inside the blue house on the hill, though everyone in Saltmarrow knew it was there. It stood on the sea wall with its lantern lit each night and its door shut tight, and the old women said it had come up out of the water one winter with no one to build it.

When the fog took her brother's boat in the spring of the lean year, she went up the hill with a lamp and a loaf wrapped in cloth. She knocked three times on the panelled door. Nothing answered, so she pressed the small brass plate beside it, the way her grandmother had told her to press anything that would not open. The door swung inward on a room that was larger than the house around it, with stairs spiralling up into a light that smelled of rain and cut hay.
A tall woman in a grey coat sat on the rail, eating apple peel in one long curl. She looked at the loaf and then at the girl. "You've come for the boat," she said. "Everyone comes for the boat." She did not ask what the loaf was for. She simply took the lamp from Morwen's hand and held it up to the window grid, where the glass showed not the bay but a dozen other bays, each one dark except for one small lantern that burned on a far shore.
"Your brother is three windows along," she said. "He is wet and cross and steering by a light that is not his own. Go and tell him the house is not finished with him yet."
Morwen went out on to the wall, and the fog was thinning. Down in the cove, a boat was coming in on the tide, and at its stern, a grey lamp burned blue.
