Cartoon head with BULLSHIT lettering
Other · Mixed · Photo
A bald, round cartoon head with ears, a wavy mouth and raised eyebrows sits at the centre, with the word BULLSHIT arched above it in bold capitals. Smaller black-outlined elements, including a rope or cord and a hand-like shape, fill the edges of the frame. The linework is bold and uniform, with red and yellow colour visible at the left and lower left edges.

Rain had been drumming on the awning of Carrow Street Market since dawn, and nobody bothered pretending it would stop. Old Mabs Tully tucked her shawl over the trestle, set her tin of boiled sweets beside the urn, and lifted her voice above the drip. "Right then. Who wants the one about the rope man?"

A bald fellow at the fishmonger's corner snorted into his tea. He had a face like a boiled egg, round and unbothered, with his brows lifted in permanent suspicion. "Go on, Mabs. Tell us how a bit of cord beat the council."
"Bullshit," said a lad stacking cabbages, and she pelted him with a sweet without looking round.
She told it anyway. Forty years back, a sailor called Ned Parrish had tied a knot in the chapel bell rope so tight that the vicar's men with their cutters could not get through it. Ned sat on the chapel step for three days eating winkles out of a paper cone while the whole street came to gawp, and on the third morning the rain stopped, the knot held, and the bell still hung silent above the village.
The bald man had stopped chewing. Mabs raised an eyebrow to match his. "Don't look at me like that. I only tell it as it was told to me." He reached into his coat, drew out a fraying length of cord, and turned it over in his fingers. Then, slowly, without a word, he tied a knot in it and set it on the counter between them, where the rain could not reach it.
