Dream without fear and love without limits script
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
Two lines of cursive script read Dream without fear above Love without Limits, set on a plain white background. The thin, even black strokes look like a monoline or fine line lettering design. The text is centred on the canvas with generous white space around it.

The handwriting was careful, the letters joined like fence wire strung between posts, and someone had taken real pains over the capitals. On the back, in a different hand, a train time had been written and crossed out: the 14:22 to Leeds, the one that used to stop when the signal was red and nobody minded.
I asked Mr Padgett who had lost it. He leaned on the ticket window and said his wife had waited for trains on this platform for thirty years, and that she had written the card the winter before she went to Carlisle with a man who sold agricultural machinery. Then he said the thing I still think about: she never came back for it, and he never threw it away.
I stamped the card with today's date and put it back in the tin, but I left the lid off. On Tuesday the 14:22 ran late, so I stood on the platform with my coat open, reading the lines until the rails stopped humming and the train came in, bright and unhurried, the way things do when they have decided to arrive.
