Five coloured gem emblems on a forearm
Forearm · Colour · Photo
Five small, separate emblems are spaced across the forearm in a loose arc. Each has a faceted or domed gem look with simple geometric markings, such as a triangle and a pentagon-like facet pattern, and the shading gives them a glossy, dimensional finish. The palette is red, purple, pink and blue on a pale skin tone, with the emblems set against the plain skin with a little space around each one.

Dearest Nell,

The fair packed up on Tuesday and Mr Pascoe took the carousel down to Penzance without so much as a goodbye to the vicar's boys, who had been counting on one more ride. I have the five stones he left in the tea caddy. You will laugh, but they are the very ones he meant to win back from me at cards last Whitsun, and he has never once asked for them.
Each is the size of a shilling and weighs more than it should. Red for the pentagon-faced one, plum for the one with the faceted crown, a rosy pink that goes milky when the lamp is low, two reds of different temper, and the blue one with a little triangle cut into it like a sail pointing home. Father always said fairground glass was cheap, but these keep their shine and never come off on your sleeve.
I meant to return them, so I walked down to the depot on Wednesday with them wrapped in my glove. The platform was empty except for a boy sweeping peppermint wrappers. He said the travelling men had gone on the early train and left no word for anyone. So I posted the blue one through the slot at the post office, addressed to Penzance in my best hand, and kept the other four in the caddy where the tea used to be.
Write soon and tell me whether Ruth's husband has found his feet in Bristol.
Your loving sister, Margaret
