Gallifreyan circle designs flash sheet
Black and grey · Flash
A printed sheet of four circular Gallifreyan-style designs, each made of thin black lines with arcs, dots and small circles inside a ring. Each design sits in its own panel with a bold black caption beneath it. The linework is uniform and clean on a crumpled, reddish-brown paper background with light grid lines separating the panels.

Dear Win, the new lodger in number four has been up at dawn again, scratching circles onto the backs of my milk bills with a compass he borrowed from the pier office. Four of them so far, each with its ring and its scatter of dots, and he insists they are maps. He keeps a blue box in the back room, no bigger than a telephone kiosk, he says, though I can only fit a hatstand in there and it leans. Yesterday he sat on the front step with a paper bag of jelly babies and gave me all the green ones, which I have never liked, and told me the box was parked where the sea could not see it. The tide had come over the groyne and taken half the promenade rail, and he looked at the water as though it owed him a refund.
This morning the room was empty. There was only a chalk door on the boards where the box had stood, and a sheet of paper pinned under the kettle with four circles inked on it. Underneath, in his careful hand, he had written: keep the kettle warm, I will be back before the next tide turns. Win, it is nearly eight, the water has gone out to the rocks again, and nothing has come back up the steps.
I have put the kettle on and set the green jelly babies out on the windowsill, which I will not be mentioning at the Methodist fete. If he comes up the path in a coat three sizes too large, I shall tell him the bill is still owing. Your loving sister, Edie.
