Geometric animal face on forearm
Fine line · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
The tattoo shows a stylised animal face, likely a bear or similar mammal, built from straight angular lines that divide it into triangular facets. The linework is thin, even and solid black, with no shading or fill. It sits centrally on the forearm against plain skin, with a dark sleeve and blurred background at the edge of the frame.

The third timetable that week came back to you folded into a paper crane, and you smoothed it flat on the lost-property counter before the 6.10 pulled in. On the back was the same bear again, drawn in hard black lines that never curved: two ears cut from slanting triangles, a brow ruled straight across, a nose closed to a single point. Nobody had ever claimed the drawings. A woman in a green coat had been leaving them under the sugar pot at the platform four café every Thursday since March, and every Thursday she caught the earlier train and never once got on it.

You started copying her lines onto the spare notices, using the edge of a returned ticket for a ruler, because the bear looked wrong unless the angles were exact. Your facets came out uneven at first. Hers never did. Some evenings you sat with the pencil above the paper for so long that the tea went cold and the announcer changed from Thornlea to Carrow Junction without you noticing.
On the next Thursday you left a blank sheet under the sugar pot with a pencil beside it. When you came back the sheet was filled, and the bear had one more line added, running from its jaw straight off the edge of the paper toward the buffers.
You taped it inside the glass case beside the umbrellas, where the things nobody wants sit waiting, and when the platform lights came on you found yourself looking for the green coat in the crowd, the way you would look for a train you already knew was late.
