Ghostbusters characters and logo on a thigh
Traditional · Thigh · Colour · Photo
The design shows three cartoon Ghostbusters characters: a green Slimer with an open mouth, a white Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in blue, and a grey Zuul figure with red eyes. They are arranged around a red circle with a diagonal slash, the no-ghost logo, and a grey ghost trap with yellow and black hazard stripes sits at the base. Bold black outlines, flat fills and a pale teal backdrop give it a bright, graphic look.

The first gull came in at dusk, slick with sea-green goo, and by the time the tide turned there were three of them on the gallery rail, pulsing like jellyfish someone had left out. Harrow Bell, the keeper before you, had pinned a list inside the tin cupboard: never light the lamp on a Thursday, never answer the foghorn when it sounds twice, and keep the trap oiled. You had laughed at that last line until you found the trap itself, a grey steel drum striped yellow and black, wedged under the stairs and humming like a fridge that wanted a word.

Dilys from the supply boat came up the cliff path with a crate of paraffin and a stencil, and she sprayed a red ring with a slash through it on the lamp room door without asking why. 'Harrow never liked the sea after the wedding,' she said, 'and mind the big one.' At midnight the big one arrived: a pale hulk rising out of the fog, all puffed arms and a blue collar, grinning at the glass like a man promised cake. Behind it a grey hound with red eyes prowled the rocks, lips peeled back over its teeth, and the sea gave a long low growl that rattled the lens.
You climbed the stairs with the trap knocking against your knee. The green one came first, bounding up the spiral with its mouth wide enough to swallow a lamp, and you hit the crank the way Bell's diagram had shown. The beam swept round, the three of them froze mid-lunge, and the drum sucked them in with a noise like a sneeze at the bottom of a well. Only the smallest was left on the step, a wisp no bigger than a gull's egg, and it looked up and said, very politely, 'It's Thursday.'
You checked the calendar. It was. Next morning you pinned a note beneath Bell's list, underlined twice: Thursdays, leave the kettle on and the trap door open.
