Hello Kitty stormtrooper with smoke
Ribs · Colour · Photo
A cartoon stormtrooper with cat ears, a pink bow and a rounded white head sits in the centre of the image, holding a rolled cigarette with curling purple, pink and teal smoke. The design uses bold black outlines with flat, even fills of pastel pink, purple and teal, with small highlights on the visor. The tattoo is shown close up on smooth skin, with the design centred and the edges of the skin fading out of frame.

Sit down, sit down, the soup is still hot and I have not finished telling you about Corporal Pim. Yes, the one with the helmet. No, it was not a helmet with ears when he left the garrison at Thessaly Bay. The ears came later, from a tinker's cart on the coast road, along with a pink bow the size of a dinner plate, and the tinker swore the whole kit had been blessed by a cat.

Pim wore it anyway, because the visor was the only thing that made him feel brave, and because a man who has been told all his life to be a shape can grow tired of it. Every evening he sat on the wall behind the chapel with a rolled paper between his lips, and the smoke came out in ribbons, purple and pink and a green like river water, and the village children followed it about like kites. Old Mrs Hollis said it smelled of violets and burnt sugar. She was not wrong.
Then came the wedding of Tamsin Vell to the miller's boy, and the whole valley crowded into the barn with fiddles and a pig on a spit. Pim was ordered to stand at the door and look fierce. He looked fierce. He also looked, when the bride swept past in her yellow shoes, like a small white cat who had been given a very serious job. Somebody laughed, then everybody did, and the miller's boy laughed loudest of all, because a groom who cannot laugh at his own wedding has no business getting married.
When the dancing started, Pim took off the helmet, hung it on the nail by the gate, and asked Tamsin for one turn around the yard. She said yes. He never put the ears back on, but the smoke still curls from that wall on wet evenings, and the children swear it still spells her name.
