Infinity symbol tattoo flash designs
Lettering · Black and grey · Flash
Six infinity symbol designs are arranged in a grid on a white background, each drawn in black linework. Several loops are formed from words in capitals or flowing script, including LOVE, FATE, HOPE, LAUGH, BLISS, CONQUER, faith, Strength and be strong believe, while one is a plain heart-shaped infinity. Some designs include small arrows or birds along the lines, and all are solid black ink with no shading or colour.

The whiteboard above the hotplate got wiped every morning for eleven years, but Nan Corrigan never let it stay empty. She started with a loop, the way she'd sweep a pie crust, one swing left and one swing right, then filled it with whatever word the sea had handed her that week. Fate, mostly, in the bad months. Hope in the spring, when the herring came back and the nets came up heavy.

Dougie, the new lad from Peterhead, stood at my elbow with a tray of tins and asked why I never just wrote the menu. I told him the menu was for men who already knew what they were going to eat. The board was for the ones who came in grey at four in the morning and needed reminding that a thing could curl back on itself and still be going somewhere. He snorted. He was nineteen and thought everything I said came with a recipe attached.
The night the Cormorant Lass lost her steering, the bridge came down to the galley with their hands shaking and nobody asked for tea. I took the chalk and drew the loop out of habit. Strength went in the middle, then Believe, then the little birds I always scratched along the curve like gulls keeping station behind a boat. Dougie read it over my shoulder, sounding each word under his breath. He traced the S with a floury finger and said, that's just a lot of loops, Nan. I said yes, and that's the trick of it. You can't find the end of a loop, so you stop looking for one.
We limped into harbour on the Tuesday. The next morning Dougie picked up the chalk himself, and the board had his loop on it, lopsided and crowded at the bottom with BE STRONG squeezed under a row of birds he'd drawn flying the wrong way. I left it up. Nobody has wiped it since.
