Matching sisters key tattoos on forearms
Lettering · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
Two forearms show near-identical ornate skeleton keys, each with a scrolled bow and a small heart cut into the bit, and the word Sisters in flowing script running along the shaft. The linework is bold and the keys are shaded in black and grey with soft gradients, with a touch of red in the bows. The keys sit diagonally across the frame against a wooden floor.

Gather round, and mind the guy ropes, because the ground under the Dunmore field is soft after the rain. I am going to tell you about the Carroway girls, who came to our fair the summer the big wheel broke, and about the key that Mr Ansel cut for them out of a bent spoon and a scrap of brass.

They had not spoken in three years. Ruth ran the coconut shy and Bea sold toffee apples from the caravan with the green door, and every morning they set up at opposite ends of the field so they would never have to pass each other. Then their mother's tin box turned up in the lost property crate, rusted shut, with the word SISTERS scratched on its lid and no key anywhere to be found.
Ansel was a patient man. He filed for two evenings by the paraffin lamp, and when he was done he had made two keys, identical to the whisker, each with a curl of scrollwork at the bow and a small heart cut into the bit. He handed one to each girl without a word. Ruth turned hers over and laughed, Bea said it was the ugliest thing she had ever been given, and then the pair of them walked to the green door and sat down on its step together.
The box opened on the third try. Inside was a single photograph of two girls on a pier, one holding the other's wrist so she would not blow away, and beneath it, in their mother's hand, a note: Keep each other's keys. Neither sister ever learned which one had been meant for the lock. Ansel said that was rather the point.
