Mother and daughter infinity tattoos on forearms

Lettering · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo

Two forearms are shown side by side, each with a black infinity symbol formed from swirling script lettering. The left arm reads Daughter, and, Mother, and the right arm reads Mother, Love, Daughter, in a flowing hand-lettered style with smooth, solid black linework. The plain pale skin and soft, even lighting keep the focus on the paired designs.

Sit down, sit down, the 4.10 is late again and it has never once been early for a story. You want the loop line? Everybody wants the loop line. Out past Carrow Junction the rails bend back on themselves like a figure of eight lying on its side, and a train that takes it comes back to where it started, whether it meant to or not.

Agnes Pell kept the signal box there for thirty years. Her daughter Win came up the platform every Sunday with a flask and a sandwich wrapped in greaseproof, and every Sunday they argued the same argument: whether Win should take the post in the city that had been offered to her. Agnes said go. Win said go and come back, and Agnes said that was just what the line did, it went out and came round, and she should not expect the world to be any straighter than the track.

One November the fog came down so thick the signal lamps looked like coins at the bottom of a bath. Win did not get on the train. She walked the loop instead, the long way, one hand on the cold rail, and came out at the box where her mother was trimming the lamp. Neither of them said a word. Agnes just set the kettle over the flame and poured two cups.

Win went to the city in the spring. She sent a postcard every week, each addressed to the box, and each one arrived, because a letter sent to a loop goes round until it finds the person it belongs to. Agnes kept them all tied with string in the drawer. The last one is still in there, a single line: Tuesday, same platform, same train.
