Realistic cupcake with cherry on a calf
Realism · Calf · Mixed · Photo
A photorealistic tattoo of a cupcake with a swirl of pale pink frosting, a glossy red cherry with a curved stem, and small red heart shapes pressed into the icing. The paper wrapper is rendered in grey and black with fine pleats and a beaded rim, and the bottom is shaded in soft grey. Smooth blended shading gives the design depth and a glossy, three-dimensional look against the skin.

It was a single cupcake in a paper case, pleated like a skirt, its rim beaded with tiny grey pearls by her uncle's careful hand. Pale pink frosting rose from it in a swirl. A cherry sat on the peak with its stalk bent over like a question, and someone had pressed red hearts into the icing, one for each year her grandmother had waited on the far bank.
"Cake is not a crime," the guard said, and lifted the lid anyway. He looked for a long time. Behind him the river went on being brown and fast, and a crow walked along the rail as if it had papers too. Marta waited, because her mother had taught her that waiting was a kind of passport. Then his moustache lifted, and he took a red sweet from his coat pocket and set it beside the cake. "For the cherry," he said. "A cherry should have company." He stamped her paper without reading it.
On the far side her grandmother stood with her arms folded, the way she stood when she had decided not to cry. Marta held up the tin. The hearts caught the light, and that was enough for both of them.
