Retro Mickey Mouse on a forearm
Traditional · Forearm · Black and grey · Photo
A black and grey tattoo of the vintage Mickey Mouse cartoon character, shown seated with one leg extended and hands on his knees. The design uses a bold black outline, solid black ears and shorts, and plain white areas for the face and body, with no shading or gradients. The tattoo sits on the inner forearm close to the wrist, photographed straight on against a plain background.

Every winter the lamp at Scarrow Point needed winding at midnight, and every winter the keeper's clockwork gave out before the gulls did. So the mouse came up from the coal store with his big round ears brushed flat by the wind and his shoes slapping the iron stairs. Nobody had ever seen him take a step that wasn't a little dance, and the keeper's wife said that was why the sea never tried him.

He was small enough to sit on the crank handle and wide enough to hold the spring with both hands. He hummed while he turned it, a tune with no words that the fishermen below could hear across the water. Sometimes he stopped to lean on the lens rail and wait for a ship's bell to answer, then he would grin, slip his hands into his pockets, and go back to winding.
One night in February the fog came in thick as wool, and a steamer with a cracked boiler drifted toward the rocks. The keeper was abed with a fever. The mouse climbed to the gallery with a box of matches in his teeth, lit every wick he could reach, then sat on the rail with his legs swinging and sang loud enough to carry over the surf. He sang until dawn, when the fog lifted and the steamer slid past, its captain waving a white cap at the small figure above.
In the morning the keeper found his shoes set neatly by the stairs, polished with sea salt, and nobody ever saw the mouse climb the tower again. On still nights, the fishermen say, the crank still turns on its own, and a thin tune comes down the tower to tell them the light is being kept.
