Mickey Mouse tattoo on skin
Traditional · Other · Colour · Photo
A cartoon Mickey Mouse sits with both hands cupped against his cheeks, in a smiling pose. The outlines are bold and dark, with soft grey shading on the head, ears and gloves and flat red, yellow and orange fills on the shorts and shoes. The figure is centred on a plain, slightly freckled background of skin, with a thin black tail curling out to the lower left.

Every night the last train to Hollin Cross ran through without stopping, and every night the small mouse sat on the bench under the station clock with his red shorts buttoned and his yellow shoes set side by side on the boards. Old Mrs Pennock, who swept the platform in return for her coal, said he had been sitting there since the line was laid, waiting for one particular passenger.

She asked him once who it was. He cupped his two round hands against his cheeks, as though the answer were too heavy to hold up, and gave her the wide grin of someone who had decided not to be disappointed. 'The one who is always early,' he said. 'So I must be earlier.'
Winter came hard. The signal lamps froze and the ticket office stove went out. Mrs Pennock left him a tin of bread crusts each evening and found him still there at dawn, his thin tail curled round the bench leg like a question mark nobody had bothered to finish. She did not move him on. The company had long since stopped paying anyone to care what happened to the platform.
On the morning the thaw broke, the seven-forty came in early, its doors already open and its lamps bright in the mist. The mouse stood, smoothed his red shorts, and stepped aboard without looking back at the bench, where his two yellow shoes were left side by side, waiting for someone small enough to fill them.
