Sunflower tattoo on upper back
Realism · Back · Black and grey · Photo
A large sunflower is shown in full bloom, with its dark, textured seed head at the centre and layered petals radiating outwards. The petals are rendered with soft grey shading and highlights, framed by a bold black outline. The design sits centrally on the upper back against lightly lit skin with some surface sheen.

At half past four the bakery is the only lit window on Mill Lane, and you have already burned one tray. Flour sits on everything: the scales, the radio dial, the cuff of the coat you forgot to take off. Your brother's order is pinned above the proving drawer in his square capitals: twelve seeded cobs for the market stall, by seven. He has never once asked how the seeds go so dark on top.

The trick, Nan always said, is to leave them in longer than feels right. You scatter the seeds across the dough in handfuls and they slide and settle, and when the oven door opens the whole kitchen smells of toasted husk and something close to smoke. The crumb is not grey, you know that, but in this light, with the extractor ticking and the street still asleep, the loaves look like the flowers on the old tea towel, the ones that turned their heads slowly to follow the sun across the kitchen wall.
At six your brother comes down the stairs with his hair flattened on one side and stops in the doorway. He lifts a cob, taps the base the way Nan taught him, hollow and certain, and says nothing for a long moment. Then he tears the corner off, the black-seeded edge, and hands you the warm half without a word.
Outside, the sky over the car park has gone the colour of weak tea, and the first van pulls in with its headlights still on. You stand by the window and eat the bread with seeds stuck to your fingers, and watch the light come up behind the bins like something turning to find you.
