Vampire fangs on an ankle
Realism · Ankle · Black and grey · Photo
A close photograph of a lower leg and ankle wearing a black lace-up trainer. The main tattoo is a pair of shaded vampire fangs with small blood drops, rendered in black and grey with smooth gradients and highlights. Above it, a traditional-style steam train and scrolled lettering reading SAD SOUND sit on the leg, and the plain white fabric behind gives a clean background.

Nadia had been stuck in the lift at Ravel House for eleven minutes when she noticed the drip. It landed on the scuffed rubber mat, slow and dark, and she told herself it was rain through the vent. Flat 14C smelled of paraffin heaters and blackcurrant squash. Old Mr Abara sat in a fold-out chair beside a speaker cabinet the size of a fridge, its grille painted with the same grinning fangs she'd seen on the back of Dev's denim jacket the night he left for Leeds. The cabinet was called Sad Sound. Mr Abara had run it in the car park in 1979, when the bass rattled the bin lids and the police came twice and went home tapping their feet.
"You've come about the bucket," he said, nodding at a tin pail under the window. Something dark caught the streetlight inside it, and Nadia looked away before she could decide what it was. He poured her a plastic cup of squash. "Don't drink it if it looks like wine. Your brother never listens to instructions either."
Outside, the last freight of the night crawled along the embankment, its lit windows sliding past like beads on a string, and the cabinet hummed under her feet in time with it. When she took the stairs down at dawn, Dev's old flyer was folded in her back pocket and there was a red stain on her lip she could not explain to anyone.
