Bachelorette fiesta lettering on the wrist
Lettering · Forearm · Mixed · Photo
A palm-up hand shows a printed temporary tattoo on the inner wrist, featuring a small sombrero above a mix of black script and bold block capitals spelling out a bachelorette party slogan. The block letters are filled with red, green and yellow, while the smaller lines are in black. The design is centred on a plain pale background, with soft even lighting across the skin.

The rain had come into Gilling Market through the gap in the roof over the cheese stall, and by eleven it had found every lost umbrella in the building. Marion sorted them by colour behind the lost property hatch, the way her mother had taught her to sort buttons, and she was on the reds when she found the sheet stuck to the underside of a tray of Wensleydale.

It was one of those printed transfers sold for hen dos, and most of its little sombreros had torn away. One survived whole: a striped hat, a curl of black script, and block letters in red, green and yellow. I BELONG WITH SAMANTHA'S BACHELORETTE FIESTA. IF I'M LOST, BUY ME A SHOT. Marion read it twice and felt the corner of her mouth move against her will.
The party came back at noon, six women in matching pink, one bride with a rain-spotted veil and mascara that had given up entirely. "Has anyone handed in a sheet of tattoos?" the bride asked. Marion looked at the wet shoes, the umbrella dripping on the flags, and said, "Not that I've seen," which was the first lie she had told at that hatch in nineteen years. The bride thanked her and clattered off towards the Blue Anchor.
Marion pulled the shutter down at one, lifted the transfer from the tray, and pressed it to the inside of her wrist. She rubbed with a damp thumb until the sombrero took, then turned her hand palm-up under the strip light and read the message once more. She tucked her umbrella under her arm and went out into the wet to buy herself a shot.
