Cartoon train with I choo-choo-choose you
Traditional · Calf · Colour · Photo
A pink cartoon steam locomotive with a grinning face and a yellow funnel sits at the bottom of the design, with a speech cloud above it reading I CHOO-CHOO-CHOOSE YOU in red capitals with a dark outline. Three small red hearts float between the train and the cloud, and a pink heart appears on the carriage. The bold black outlines and flat fills of pink, yellow and red suggest a traditional or neo-traditional approach, shown on skin with a light background.

Pinkie had been shunting the same three wagons along the Mallow Quay branch for eleven years, and nobody had ever asked her to do anything grand. The big green engines hauled coal up from the pits and fish down to the market, and they whistled at her as they passed, long and bored. Pinkie had a face on her front, which the foreman called a design fault, and a grin that refused to come off however hard the boiler man scrubbed.

On the Thursday, the lighthouse keeper's daughter, Nell Ashby, came down the quay with a paper bag of sugared almonds and sat on the buffer stop to eat them. Pinkie watched her all afternoon. She had no words, only steam, so she practised. A short puff meant yes, a long one meant perhaps, and a shriek that sent the gulls up off the sheds meant something she was too shy to say out loud.
Nell laughed so hard she dropped the bag. Then she stood, brushed the sugar off her skirt, and walked along the rails to the engine. 'You're trying to tell me something,' she said, and Pinkie blew out three soft clouds in a row, which Nell somehow read as yes. Pinkie had never been so pleased in her life. Her wheels nearly left the track.
The next morning the harbour woke to a sight that puzzled the fishwives: a small pink engine, polished to a shine, pulling one red carriage down the branch with a lantern swinging from her funnel. Nell rode inside with a basket of almonds on her knee. Every few yards a puff of white smoke curled up from the stack and hung over the water, and anyone who squinted could just make out the shape of it.
